GIFT DAY 2018
12th and 19th of August!
Our annual Gift Day is an exciting opportunity for all of us!
Firstly, it’s an opportunity to support ministries and organisations both inside and outside the church that are impacting our community. Each of the recipients is changing and empowering lives in the Northern Beaches or on the North Shore.
Secondly, it's an opportunity for us to go above and beyond our regular giving and to step out in worshipping God wholeheartedly with our finances.
And thirdly but not last, finance can be the biggest idol in our culture and the Gift Day gives us an opportunity to be courageous in breaking this idol and stepping out in faith to give extravagantly.
So we would like to encourage you to join us, in seeking God about how much we should give as individuals and families as we aim for this faith target of AU$ 250,000.
Here are the 7 recipients of our Gift Day:
God has spoken to us about being a city shaping church and this call is going to be worked out through planting sites or congregations of Grace City Church all over Sydney. Planting sites and churches take finance, so this is an important area of the gift day. Your giving will enable us to continue pressing into the purposes of God for our church.
Grace City Care is committed to serving the Dee Why and surrounding Northern Beaches community. Some years back we opened our Foodcare shop with the intent of giving away and supplying low-cost groceries to people in need in our community, not knowing whether anyone would come. Since then, we’ve had the honour of practically blessing over 1000 families. For more info, click here!
Love Dee Why is a week-long campaign in October during school holidays which Grace City Church will seek to share the love of Christ with the community of Dee Why and Chatswood through a variety of different initiatives. This includes community service projects, large-scale public events, and everything in between. We long for Grace City Church to be known as one that celebrates, loves and is. actively involved in the life of the local community.
Grace City Church has been helping and supporting Fisher Road School for the last four years. Fisher Road School is a school in Dee Why that offer special education for students K-12 with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities in a safe and supportive learning environment. Visit Fisher Road School website.
Grace City Church has been helping the Women's Refuge organisation for the last two years. Women's Refuge is not for profit community-based service for women and vulnerable families, including women and children escaping domestic violence, intimate partner violence and family violence. Visit Women's Refuge website: Bringa Women and Children's Refuge in Northern Beaches and Delvena Women and Children's Refuge in Lower North Shore.
Streetwork is a not-for-profit organisation that has been around in Chatswood for more than 30 years which seeks to empower teenagers troubled by destructive influences and behaviour to turn their lives around through one-on-one mentoring. We are really excited to be partnering with Streetwork and supporting the work that they continue to do with the young people of Chatswood and the wider North Shore area. Visit Streetwork website.
Widow and Orphan's fund is a fund that Grace City Church has with the purpose of blessing people who are going through financial needs in and outside the church. As an example, we blessed a Foodcare client paying for a surgery and also bought a washing machine for a single mother who was in need. The Gift Day will also be used to build this fund up.
