GIFT DAY 2019

25th August and 1st of September!

Our annual Gift Day is an exciting opportunity for all of us!

Firstly, it’s an opportunity to support ministries and organisations both inside and outside the church that are impacting our community.
Each of the recipients is changing and empowering lives.
Secondly, it's an opportunity for us to go above and beyond our regular giving and to step out in worshipping God wholeheartedly with our finances.
And thirdly but not last, finance can be the biggest idol in our culture and the Gift Day gives us an opportunity to be courageous in breaking this idol and stepping out in faith to give extravagantly.

So we would like to encourage you to join us, in seeking God about how much we should give as individuals and families as we aim for this faith target of AU$ 250,000.

Here are the recipients of our Gift Day:

Church is about transformation, and Grace City Care is our grouping of key community social action and justice projects that bring transformation to our community. These are projects that we run directly as a church such as Community Foodcare and ESL (English Second Language). The impact of these programmes on our community is massive, and this gift day will both fund the existing incredible work being done, and enable us to expand these and start new projects into all the communities we are working into.

God has spoken to us about being a city-shaping church, and this call is going to be worked out through planting sites or congregations of Grace City Church all over Sydney. We are looking to fund our new sites being planted in the Upper North Shore and North West areas of Sydney, and to reach into new areas to see the Gospel advancing, so your giving will enable us to continue pressing into the purposes of God for our church.

Regions Beyond is our global family of churches that is made up of almost 300 churches in 30 nations. Many of these churches are financially poor and are working into very difficult situations. The global offering is taken up from all RB churches (even the poorest count it a privilege to give) and then given where it is most needed to fund Gospel advance. One day in heaven we will meet people from around the world who were saved as a result of our giving, so let's go for it!

Donna and the team have a falling apart 4x4 in Burundi that is constantly breaking down, putting them at risk of being stuck in unsafe areas and making their work more difficult. We would like to buy a good, second hand Toyota 4x4 for the work there – Toyota is the easiest to service in Burundi, and you need a 4x4 to drive on ‘normal’ roads. This would be a huge blessing to them and would greatly help the work of the church in Burundi.

Love Sydney is part of our ‘Love in Action’ initiative. We want to bless people across the city of Sydney in a variety of ways which include, hosting community events, serving local schools, running summer kids programmes and feeding some of the poorest residents. God has poured so much love into us, and we are delighted to be pouring that love into our city.

The Cottage is a Christian based counselling organisation located in Narrabeen. They have an expert team who have a real heart for those in the greatest need. With mental health being a current pandemic issue for us, providing financial support to this feels like the most natural thing to do.

Fisher Road School is a fantastic school, with some incredible staff located in Dee Why. They are leaders in special education and provide quality education for students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. We have supported them financially over the past few years and also through Love Sydney, and we are very pleased to continue supporting them.

Bringa Women and Children’s Refuge has been operating on the Northern beaches for more than 40 years. It provides crisis accommodation to women and children escaping domestic violence for up to three months. We have had very positive contact over the last few years through the gift day and also through Grace City Care engagement. We are thrilled to be supporting this incredible work.

WEB Gift Day Icon Cerebral

Our Upper Northshore site currently meets in the Cerebral palsy centre in St Ives. As an organisation the Cerebral Palsy Alliance has been supporting people with a range of complex disabilities for more than 60 years. Cerebral palsy is a developmental disability that results from damage to or dysfunction of the developing brain. The impairments associated with cerebral palsy are non-progressive but permanent. As a group we would love to partner and support the St Ives CP centre in a more meaningful way. They have really lovely facilities for their clients, including a beautiful garden with veggies and fruit trees. They would love to have their deck refurnished and painted for their clients to enjoy this outside area. We would also love to do a general clean-up for them. We know this small gift would mean the world to them and it certainly would have a positive impact in the community we are looking to reach.

At Grace City Church, several of our home-grown songs have become a part of our regular expression of corporate worship together.  Responding to what we believe is God's prophetic leading, the vision for Grace City Worship is to make these songs more widely available to other churches, and we are beginning to see some momentum towards this.  Financial support from Gift Day will be a great help in launching Grace City Worship.

Recent figures reveal as few as 5% of students at some Sydney high schools are attending scripture lessons. For this reason, we would like to support scripture teachers as they invite young people to explore life's big questions and share the good news of Jesus with them.
This resource will go to Rachel Purcell, scripture teacher at Cromer Campus and also to the scripture teachers of Willoughby Girls and Chatswood High.
